Beach Improvement Projects

This project represents the CRA's continuing investment in capital improvements to remove blight and encourage economic development.  The first phase, the Pilot Project, is being completed between Cleveland and Grant Streets. The following drawings depict the next phase of undergrounding of utilities and street scape beautification from Minnesota to Tyler Streets, from SR A1A to the Broadwalk. This information was presented in a community forum on April 12, 2010 at the Hollywood Beach Culture and Community Center.

The Hollywood Beach Broadwalk underwent a $14,000,000 renovaton, completed in 2007. Improvements include:
    • Multicolored concrete decorative pavers in the pedestrian area
    • Tabby concrete bike path
    • Crushed shell jogging path
    • 18" high decorative wall with LED lighting
    • Historically significant Tri-globe and Acorn lighting fixtures with decorative concrete pads
    • Palm Tree clusters
    • Re-location of showers and the addition of ADA accessible shower
    • New public restrooms

  

The complete renovation of Charnow Park was completed in June 2008, providing many new amenities. This urban pocket park along the beach now provides the backdrop for an extensive array of activities and has revitalized the neighborhood.

This stylish new Nautical Deco-style facility houses a 400-car parking garage on 5 levels plus rooftop. The garage boasts an observation deck for paddleball game viewing facing eastward and a smaller observation deck on the roof level facing westward to enjoy sunset views.

The Hollywood Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project, a joint effort between the City of Hollywood, Beach Community Redevelopment Agency, and the Florida Department of Transportation, was completed in 2008.

The Hollywood Beach CRA and the City of Hollywood have provided funds for Broward County's 2005-2006 Beach Renourishment Project to restore eroded beaches in Hollywood, Hallandale and Dania Beach.   Read More...
